Membership in Action: Getting the Most From Your AEP Membership

AEP membership offers many benefits for you as an individual and for your organization. Taking advantage of them starts with having an AEP Web User Account, which is your online connection to AEP and a virtual door to the benefits of membership.

Opening a Web User Account

Setting up a Web User account takes less than five minutes. All you need to do is provide basic contact information and set a password. Get started now by clicking the following link: https://www.secureaep.com/awards/newuser.php. NOTE: This link will open up a new window in your browser to make it easier to refer back to this page for instructions.

Please note: If you are an AEP member, please be sure to:

  • Check YES after “Are You An AEP Member?”
  • Then, use the drop-down menu to identify the organization you are with. Non-members can also have Web User accounts, but their access is restricted to registering for event or entering award programs.

Once you have a Web User Account:

  1. Create an Individual Profile and “Opt-In” to AEP’s Individual Member Directory.
  2. Confirm/Select your email options. Click here to find out more about these.

How to Best Use your Web User Account

Networking - Participate in Online Membership Directories

  • By creating an Individual Profile and “opting-in” to the Individual Member Directory, you make it easy for other members to find you.
  • By participating in the Member Companies Directory and “opting in,” you help advance the understanding of your company to other members. (NOTE: Only the Key Contact from a member organization can access this area).

Networking – Searching the Online Membership Directories

  • You can search both the Individual and Member Company Directories by a number of criteria to find potential business partners or clients.
  • You can view a full list of all Companies and Individuals that have “opted in” to these Directories.

Showcase Your Educational Products

  • The Online Product Gallery provides you a unique forum in which to showcase your educational products. All AEP members may submit their products to the Gallery free of charge. Along with a color digital image of your product and a brief description, a Gallery listing includes a variety of contact and product information. There’s simply no reason not to post your products here.

Branding/Membership Identification

  • You can download AEP Membership Logos and use them to identify your organization as one that actively participates and supports the educational publishing industry.

Advance Your Media Outreach

  • AEP maintains a Media List of contacts in the General, Education, and Trade Media to help you get the word out about your products and services.

Learn/Participate in AEP’s Committees

  • AEP’s Committees (Government Relations, Summit, Technology, and Awards) work to ensure member input and participation in specific areas of importance to the Association. Members are welcome and encouraged to join these voluntary committees.

Enter AEP’s Awards Program

  • Winning an AEP award provides an extra boost to your sales and marketing efforts and energizes your organization.

Individual Member Directory

The Individual Member Directory is the place for networking with other AEP members. You can fill out a Directory Profile by logging in to your Web User Account and clicking on "Update Personal Info/Account Preferences." Beyond basic contact information, you provide five key areas that best describe the type of work you do, the types of products/services with which you work, the markets you serve, and your membership objectives. These are also the key criteria used for other AEP members to find you.

NOTE: In order to be included in the Directory, you must opt in by checking the box on top of the page next to “Yes! I would like to publish my personal info in the AEP Online Membership Directory. You may choose to opt out of the Membership Directory at anytime by logging in to your account and unchecking this option.
