Publishers association honors year's best
educational products
Logan Twp., NJ--June 12, 2009--The
Association of Educational Publishers (AEP), the national, nonprofit
organization for the educational resource community, is pleased
to announce the winners of the 2009 AEP Awards, recognizing the
year's most outstanding materials in the field of teaching and learning.
The winners of this year's Distinguished Achievement and Golden
Lamp Awards were honored at special gala event Friday night at the
National Press Club in Washington, DC.
According to Charlene Gaynor, CEO of AEP, the 2009 winners exemplify
what it means to think in terms of the 21st Century classroom.
"Despite our economic climate, I was struck by the limitless
innovative ideas seen throughout this year's entries," said
Gaynor. "Many products challenged educational norms and explored
new ways to make the essentials fun. Stellar math and reading materials
proudly earned honors along with less traditional yet relevant real-world
subjects like finance, relationships, and nutrition."
AEP's Distinguished Achievement Awards (DAAs) recognize the best
educational resources within the categories of Curriculum, Periodicals,
Professional Development, and, for the first time, Technology Innovations.
The DAAs are evaluated on traits such as efficacy, usability, and
overall educational value and are judged by an expert panel of educators,
editors, designers, and technology specialists.
A complete list of DAA winners is available on the web at www.AEPweb.org/awards/winners.htm.
If the DAAs are the Oscars (tm) of the educational resource community,
the Golden Lamp Awards are the industry's equivalent of Best Picture.
The "best of the best," Golden Lamp winners are defined
by their superior use of content, design, and fulfillment of a product's
educational mission. The winners of the 2009 Golden Lamp Awards
are:

PERIODICALS
Scholastic MATH Magazine
Scholastic Inc.
