AEP Announces Finalists for 2005 Awards Program
LOGAN TWP, NJ (April 27, 2005)--The Association of Educational
Publishers (AEP), the nation's leading professional organization
for supplemental educational publishers, today announced the finalists
for its 2005 Awards Program. For nearly three decades, the
AEP Awards have recognized significant and excellent achievement
in supplemental educational products and education marketing. Selected
by a panel of peers and industry experts, AEP Award winners earn
the right to display the Lamp of Learning logo, a mark of outstanding
quality and achievement.
The list of this year's honorees is representative of the size
and breadth of the industry, including long-time companies like
Scholastic and Highlights, newcomers to education like Gibbs-Smith
and netTrekker, non-profits such as the JASON Foundation, and technology
vendors like WILL Interactive. A complete list of finalists,
sorted according to category, can be found on the web at http://www.AEPweb.org/awards/winners.htm.
"The significance of the AEP Awards has become twofold," said
Charlene Gaynor, Executive Director of AEP. "Not only
do they reward publishers with the recognition they deserve, more
importantly they help parents and teachers identify the best educational
products and publications available."
Honors are given in the following categories:
- The Golden Lamp Awards, honoring the best
of the best in four categories - books, instructional materials,
periodicals and technology. The Golden Lamp identifies
superior use of content, design and fulfillment of a product's
educational mission.
- The Distinguished Achievement Awards for excellence
in an eclectic and growing product field including educational
toys, software, home and classroom materials, books and magazines,
Websites, learning devices and more.
- The AOL@SCHOOL Technology Leadership Award,
jointly given by AOL and AEP, recognizing originality in the
implementation of content, media, design and delivery. The
winner is chosen from the technology category entrants in the
Distinguished Achievement Awards.
- The Beacon Awards, which recognize outstanding
educational marketing by sales and contributing staff who deal
with the vital task of bringing a product to consumer awareness. Awards
are given for several media, including display advertising, direct
mail and integrated marketing campaigns, brochures and catalogs.
- The Gold Beacon Award, granted to the product
judged the most innovative and appealing marketing tool from
among the winners of The Beacon Award.
All winners will be announced at the annual Awards Banquet and
Gala, held at the conclusion of the AEP Educational Publishing
Summit, June 6-8, at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. Beacon
Award winners will be honored separately on the morning of June
8, at the Beacon Breakfast.
