top this year’s winners at the 2010 Association of Educational
Publishers’ (AEP) educational publishing awards. One of the
largest and longest-running recognition programs in the educational
resource industry, the annual AEP Awards are the standard for quality,
professional educational products and excellence in education marketing.
AEP honors the achievers with three awards programs: The Golden
Lamp, the Distinguished Achievement Awards (DAAs), and the Beacon
Awards.
Considered the best of the best in educational publishing, the
2010 Golden Lamp Winners are:
- Livescribe Pulse Smartpen by Livescribe in the Technology
and New Media category
- Supporting English Language Learners in Math Class: A Multimedia
Professional Learning Resource by Math Solutions in the
Professional Development category
- ExploreLearning Gizmos by ExploreLearning in the Curriculum

The Distinguished Achievement Awards
(DAAs), the largest branch
of the program, recognized the year's best products in four overarching
categories–Curriculum, Periodicals, Professional Development,
and Technology & New Media–according to subject area
and grade level. The awards highlight the standard of excellence
other developers can measure their products against; in total,
167 awards were given. Several companies took home multiple
awards this year, including Math Solutions, Southern Poverty Law
Center, Scholastic, National Geographic Kids, and Kiki/B-books,
Ltd.
The Beacon Awards for education marketing presented honors in
individual categories, including e-commerce website, integrated
marketing campaign, and annual report as well as the Gold Beacon.
Chosen from among the category winners, the recipient of the Gold
Beacon is truly the "best of the best." The 2010 winner
is www.curriculumassociates.com, the website for Curriculum Associates.
“With the economy this year was an extremely
difficult one for companies in the educational publishing market.
Even so, our award winners continued to develop products with the
highest of integrity and instructional design,” said Charlene
Gaynor, CEO of AEP. “It is amazing to see the amount of commitment
to the process of creating quality educational materials that is
evident in the many products entered into the awards program.”
