The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP)
Announces the
2010 Hall of Fame Honorees
Inductees prove dedication to the advancement of
educational publishing
Logan Twp., NJJune 14, 2010To be honored
with induction into any Hall of Fame, individuals must demonstrate
a career-long, resounding commitment to their particular field.
This is no different with the Association of Educational Publishers'
Hall of Fame, now in its 15th year,
which recognizes individuals who have spent a lifetime in support
of the educational publishing industry and the advancement of instructional
resources and the industry that develops and supports them.
This year's honorees are:
"When I consider this year's inductees into the AEP Hall of
Fame, all I can say is WOW. Their dedication to the education of
children has me humbled. It is through individuals like these, and
the companies they have created, that we can make such great strides
in helping students meet and exceed their potential," said
Charlene Gaynor, CEO of AEP. The inductees will be honored at an
event in New York City in early December.
About the Inductees
Marilyn Burns has an impressive
track record helping the nation value mathematics learning and placing
a premium on math achievement. First, through her lectures, videos,
and publications, she exposed the myth of the "math gene."
From teacher materials and trade books to curriculum, assessments,
and videos she has shown that all students can learn if their teachers
are well prepared and if their materials are practical and relevant.
To that end, Marilyn founded Math Solutions, the leading provider
of professional development in K-8 mathematics.
When Rachelle Cracchiolo
launched Teacher Created Materials (TCM) in 1977, she recognized
that teachers' best practices must be shared for there to be true
improvement in teaching technique and student performance. She took
a home-grown, garage-based business and turned it into a multi-million
dollar international company with products and professional development
that meet the high expectations and standards of today's educators.
Even today, every product is still created by a current or former
teacher, and TCM employees stay in constant contact with the classroom.
In addition to her responsibilities to her business interests, Rachelle
served as President of AEP during the 2007-08 membership year.
Diane Trister Dodge has made many
visionary contributions to the field of early childhood education
through her tireless advocacy on behalf of early learners and educators.
Her ability to connect with and inspire educators through her passion
and unwavering belief in the importance of early childhood education
has established her as a trusted leader in the field. Diane has
set a tone of respect and professionalism that has encouraged educators
in a very personal way to engage the whole child and influenced
the rest of us to support and recognize their important work.
The Educational Publishing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will
take place Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the McGraw-Hill Auditorium
in New York City. Tickets will be available in the fall. To find
