Beacon Awards luncheon recognizes best sales and marketing
products in the education sector
WASHINGTON, DC — JUNE 9, 2006 — Today,
the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) announced the winners
of the 2006 Beacon Awards for excellence in education marketing.
Awards were presented at a special luncheon held during the association's
Educational Publishing Summit at the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown
Washington, DC.
Jo-Ann McDevitt, president of AEP's Board of Directors, was on
hand to present the awards, which recognize creative and successful
marketing products and campaigns.
"I'm pleased to honor this unique segment of our industry,
whose hard work and expertise often slips below the radar,"
said McDevitt. "These individuals continue to find ways to
reach out to decision-makers and present them with clear, concise
representations of the options available to them."
The Beacon Awards recognize products in nine distinct categories.
From among these categories, one particularly exceptional product
is rewarded the Gold Beacon, the highest achievement in education
marketing. This year's winners are:
Gold Beacon —"It's A Girl's Life. Lead It.
Campaign," Girl Scouts of the U. S. A.
From the judges: The campaign message - "Defy the Ordinary"
- is crystal clear, and its simplicity only magnified its impact.
Its implementation demonstrates an excellent use of channels to
reach its target audience.
