EMERYVILLE, CALIF. (June 21, 2004)
LeapFrog SchoolHouse, the school division of LeapFrog Enterprises,
Inc. (NYSE: LF), was selected as the first recipient of the Technology
Leadership Award for its LeapTrack Assessment & Instruction
System. Jointly sponsored by the Association of Education Publishers
(AEP) and AOL@SCHOOL, the online learning service provided by America
Online to students and teachers at no cost, the award recognizes
a company that demonstrates innovative use of instructional technology
and the creative application of multimedia to support the learning
process.
The LeapTrack Assessment and Instruction System
incorporates a multisensory approach to assessment and individualized
instruction and provides easy and frequent access to information
about how students are progressing, said Bob Lally, president
of LeapFrog SchoolHouse. The Technology Leadership Award further
validates that the LeapTrack system is one of the most innovative
learning and assessment products available today. LeapFrog SchoolHouse was selected out of more than
1,300 entries. AOL@SCHOOL is sponsoring the Technology Leadership
award for the first time to recognize and showcase innovative use
of multiple technologies for improved instruction. The judging panel,
composed of recognized experts in educational publishing, follows

of content, media, design, and delivery.
We are pleased to sponsor the Technology Leadership
Award at the prestigious AEP awards, said Mark Stevens, Executive
Director and General Manager, AOL@SCHOOL. As a leading online
provider of online resources for students and teachers, we have
the opportunity to partner with so many industry-leading companies
with terrific products, that we felt compelled to showcase the best
of the best. We plan to sponsor this award each year moving
forward. LeapTrack is a first-class product that delivers two critical
components: it is fun for kids and user-friendly for teachers.
The judges were impressed with the incredible
breadth of the LeapTrack Assessment & Instruction System as
well as the effective use of technology in the delivery of content,
said Charlene Gaynor, executive director of the AEP. This
award distinguishes LeapFrog SchoolHouse as a leading developer
of innovative education technology.
The LeapTrack system is an easy-to-use solution that
helps elementary schools more efficiently assess student performance
and assign individualized instruction. The system enables educators
to quickly assess each students skills in relation to state
standards, pinpoint areas for improvement and create individualized
learning paths for students. The program consists of a software
application that manages how content is assigned to students and
contains a suite of valuable reports that highlight student, class,
school, and district progress against state standards and assigns
prescriptive content to each student based on their assessment results.
