Learning Resources Receives Honors for Product Packaging and Catalog Design - 10/31
Learning Resources, Inc., a leading manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational tools, and its design team were recently recognized by the 2007 American Graphic Design Awards for its product packaging and catalog design. Eight of the company's package designs and its 2007 toy catalog were presented with American Graphic Design Awards.

Discovery Education Awards More Than $100,000 in Scholarships and Prizes at the 9th Annual Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge - 10/31
Discovery Education recently awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships and prizes during the 9th Annual Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge (DCYSC), held October 21 to 24 in Washington, DC. The grand prize winner, Erik Gustafson, was chosen on October 24 as "America's Top Young Scientist of the Year" by a panel of judges.

Learning Resources Names Toriumi to Lead Branding Initiative - 10/31

Curriculum Associates Named Exclusive U.S/Canadian Distributor for Academic Workout Series - 10/30
Curriculum Associates, a leading publisher of research-based supplemental curriculum materials and tools for today's diverse classrooms, has become the sole distributor in the U.S. and Canada for Academic Workout Kits. The grades 3-10 series was authored by reading experts Jim Burke (gr. 6-10) and Timothy Rasinski (gr. 3-5) and published in 2006-07 by First Choice Publishing Group, LLC. The Kits are comprehensive and customizable classroom resources for teaching the reading and language arts standards essential for student success.

School in South Africa Uses Neighborhood MapMachine 2.0 to Learn Geography, Mapping and Computer Skills - 10/30
A civic-minded group of Canadian eleventh graders recently journeyed to the Queenstown Get Ahead Project (QGAP) schools in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa to help younger students learn geography, mapping, and computer skills. Using donated licenses of Tom Snyder Productions' Neighborhood MapMachine 2.0 software, students from both schools learned great lessons about mapping, collaboration, and community.

The van Tulleken Company ("van Tulleken"), the leading international corporate finance advisers in media, information and technology, is pleased to announce it has advised the shareholders of Amaze TV ("Amaze"), the UK factual entertainment producer, on the formation of a new European media group backed by substantial investment from Palamon Capital Partners. The deal completed on Oct. 11, 2007.

Pearson Wins New Five-Year Testing Contract - 10/29
The United States Department of Education has awarded a new five-year contract for the period 2008-2012 to the Educational Measurement group of Pearson for delivering and scoring the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Pearson has been responsible for scoring NAEP, also known as the "Nation's Report Card," since 1989. Pearson will continue to work with its alliance partners--Educational Testing Service; Westat, Inc.; and Fulcrum IT--which are all participants with Pearson on the current NAEP contract.

Follett Releases InfoCentre 3.0 - 10/25
The latest version of InfoCentre from Follett Software Company makes library management even easier for K-12 schools. InfoCentre 3.0 now makes it easier to deal with grade and homeroom circulation, lost copies and fines. It also gives users access to powerful optional services from Follett Software. The new version of InfoCentre automatically creates Grade and Homeroom lists based on the values in a school's patron records.
