Pearson Announces Appointments to Supplemental Literature
and Language Arts Division - 9/27
Adam Berkin will assume responsibilities as the Editorial Director,
Supplemental Literature and Language Arts. In his former role as
executive editor at PLG, Adam developed reading and language arts
materials, including planning and execution of a variety of titles.
Mary Luthi will assume responsibilities as the Manager, Literature
and Language Arts Technology. Mary was previously the Executive
Technology Editor for Language Arts at Prentice Hall, where she
has demonstrated an ability to plan and execute multiple technology
products on tight schedules.
Children's Magazine Editors Hold "Largest-Ever Gathering" -
9/27
Twenty-three editors and art directors met for two September
days at Boyds Mills, Pennsylvania, in what is believed to be the
largest-ever gathering designed for children's magazine editors.
The editors, representing publishers that distribute 42 different
children's magazines, came from across the United States and Canada.
"We were a diverse group..." Highlights Editor in Chief
Christine French Clark said. "But the desire to offer kids
enriching, high-quality editorial content unified us, and the opportunity
to discuss some of our common challenges was both stimulating and
inspiring."

is responsible for supervising and directing the sales strategy

Madison Metropolitan School District Continues Commitment to Providing

Committing
to provide local classrooms with digital resources to enhance learning,
the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) in Madison, Wis.,
has renewed its contract to offer Discovery Education streaming
to educators and students in 46 schools through July 30, 2008.
New Vernier Website Provides Activities for Engineering and STEM
Education - 9/24
Vernier Software & Technology is providing STEM educators
with a web site featuring lab activities such as investigating
how concrete cures, writing a program to control an RC Servo motor,
providing an LED alarm when a force threshold is surpassed, and

As
a winner in the audio category, Sing & Read with Greg & Steve
Readers Variety Pack with CD was selected among numerous applicants
to receive a 2007 Directors' Choice award from Earlychildhood NEWS,
an Excelligence Learning Corporation publication. The Directors'
Choice Awards, acknowledging outstanding design and manufacture

Free Collection of World War II Classroom Resources to
Support "The
War," A Ken Burns & Lynn Novick Film, Launches - 9/20
Educators
can bring the triumph and tragedy of World War II into the classroom
with today's launch of "History and the Headlines:
Double Victory - Minorities and Women During World War II." Designed
to support the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick PBS/WETA World War II
documentary, "The War," this free collection of authoritative
and engaging multimedia content will help students examine the
role of minorities and women during World War II and place their
stories within the larger context of the war. In partnership with
Burns and Novick, PBS/WETA and National History Day, ABC-CLIO developed
this collection as part of "History and the Headlines," a
series of free online history resources.
Inspiration Software Honored for Contributions to Education Technology

Inspiration Software was named winner of the 2007 EdNET Impact

19th Annual Educational Networking Conference held recently in

Learning Resources Appoints Etienne Veber CEO and Richard Woldenberg

Learning Resources, Inc., a leading manufacturer

toys for the home, announced today its appointment of Etienne Veber
as chief executive officer. Veber was formerly Learning Resources'
president and chief operating officer. Richard Woldenberg, formerly
CEO, was named chairman of Learning Resources.
