New Report Examines NCLB's Impact on School Supply Industry

The National School Supply and Equipment Association released the 2005 State of the School Market report earlier this month.  Highlights of the report include specific coverage of the latest news influencing preK-12 education, articles on school enrollment and demographics, the 2006 federal education budget, and an in-depth interview with NSSEA President and CEO Tim Holt.

Key findings include:

* Head Start reduces the achievement gap between low income 3 and 4 year olds and their more financially advantaged peers (Department of Health and Human Services)

* 41% of NSSEA members said that NCLB has affected their business in a negative way; 33% said it had no effect, while 15% said it affected their business positively and 10% were not sure

* Educators said they were most likely to learn about new products at conferences - 46% of district-level survey participants and 31% of building-level
