Spellings Appoints New ED Chief of Staff
Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings last week appointed
David Dunn as the Department of Education's new Chief of Staff. Dunn
most recently served as special assistant on domestic policy to
President Bush.
"David Dunn's experience and expertise make him an outstanding
addition to the Department of Education," said Spellings in
a January 26 press release, "and I have complete confidence
in his ability to inspire and lead."
Spellings also appointed deputy chiefs of staff Emily Kertz Lampkin
and Robin Gilchrist. Kertz Lampkin has served as the ED director
of No Child Left Behind communications and outreach for the past
two years. Prior to this, she was deputy director of public
affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Gilchrist has served
as a liaison to education associations at the Department for the
past year. Prior to this, she was the director of the Texas
Family Literacy Center and also served as assistant commissioner
of education under then-Gov. George W. Bush.
