USED Announces Second Year of Teacher-to-Teacher Workshops

The US Department of Education will once again be holding summer workshops as part of its Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative, which is designed to keep teachers up-to-date on successful classroom strategies through peer advisory.  Six regional workshops will be held with topics covering the core subjects in addition to sessions on NCLB, special education, English-language learning, and testing.

"We want to build on the phenomenal success of last year's workshops and give more teachers and opportunity to learn firsthand from those who have put these practices to work in the classroom," said Secretary Spellings in a recent press release.  "It's one thing to read about a successful strategy; it's quite another to engage directly with the educators who have had impressive results in closing the achievement gap."
