NGA Report Recommends Expansion of Early Education Programs

The National Governors Association released a report last week offering suggestions for better preparing young children for formal education.  "Building the Foundation for Bright Futures," authored by the NGA Task Force on School Readiness, listed 16 recommendations, including expanding access and creating special agencies for overseeing early education efforts.  The report was released January 25 at a conference organized by North Carolina's Smart Start Program, widely recognized as one of the leading early childhood programs in the country.
