Golden Lamp Awards

The Golden Lamp Awards are one of educational publishing’s longest-running and most prestigious traditions. The four Golden Lamp categories are aligned with the DAAs, but the similarities end there. See the Judging paragraph below for more information.

Entry Requirements

  • For the entry requirements, click here.

  • Please note any special entry requirements listed in the individual category descriptions.

  • Failure to follow the entry directions may result in a low evaluation score and/or disqualify your product and forfeit its right to be judged. If there are any questions, please read the Awards FAQ and/or call us at 302-295-8351.

Your entries will not be judged until payment is received.

Categories

  • Whole Curriculum Program - This category is for any product used as basal curriculum for student instruction in a particular subject — regardless of the medium or format. Because curricula are used specifically for student instruction, entries must include teacher or instructor support materials.

  • Supplemental Resources - This category is for any product used for student instruction in a particular subject – regardless of the medium or format – that supports curriculum and basal instruction. Because these materials are used specifically for student instruction, entries must include teacher or instructor support materials.

  • Periodicals - The Periodicals division is at the root of AEP’s history and was the first awards category. Judges will look closely at the marriage of content, design, and the elements necessary for a successful publication. Print or digital publications are accepted.

Special entry requirement: Submit three issues from 2011, unless less than three issues are published per year. Print publications must mail three copies of three issues from 2011 to AEP.

  • Professional Development - These products are used for training and enriching educators and contain information on classroom or school management, instructional techniques, content in instruction, and education theory and practice. Print or digital formats are accepted.

Judging
Unlike the DAAs, Golden Lamp entries are judged against the entire field of entries within each category. There are no subcategories in Golden Lamp competition (i.e. Science, Arts, ESL/ELL curricula all compete against each other), therefore the winners can truly say they are the best of the best in their respective category. For more information on the judging process, visit the Judging page.

Finalists and Winners
Golden Lamp Finalists are announced in a press release when the judging process is completed in April. At this point, product and company names will be posted in the Awards section of the AEP website. Winners are announced at the AEP Awards Banquet & Gala in June in Washington, DC.
